In first grade we have been reading books by Steve Jenkins. We love his book called Actual Size. We looked at his website and watch a video on how he creates his artwork for his books. Students then picked an animal to sketch. Then they cut out different prints of paper to glue down in the shape of their animal. They came out fabulous! Some students are still in the process of finishing them so come back if you don't see yours yet.
